The European Gas Market

According to ‘’ World Energy Outlook 2006’’ and ‘’Future Natural Gas Demand in Europe’’, the respective reports of the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, natural gas demand in the EU 15 will record a steady increase between 1.4 and 2.7% per annum.

This phenomenon, mainly due to a fall in local production will decline from a present volume of 210 billion cubic meters/year to around 45 billion cubic meters/year by 2030.

The conversion of power generating plants to natural gas will intensify the strong demand growth on the European market.
